Granite (from Lat. Granum - granule, grain) is a widespread intrusive igneous rock of acid composition. Liparite is an effusive analogue of granite. The presence of a granite layer is the key difference between continental and oceanic crust. The color of granite is light, mainly due to the color of feldspars: light gray, yellowish, pink, reddish.
